Isfahân in the Heart of Iranian History
Sasanian Atashgah (Fire Temple) of Isfahan
Geography and history Covering an area of 105,937 square kilometers, Isfahan province 17 townships which are: Isfahan, Ardestan, Barkhar and Maymeh, Homayun-shahr, Khansar, Semirom, Shahreza (Ghomsheh), Faridan,Freydoon-shahr, Falavarjan, kashan, Golpayehgan, Lanjan, Mobarakeh, Naeen, Nadjafabad and Natanz. Isfahan, being the capital city of the province, is the most populated city of the province.
Among these monuments, it can be pointed out to some of them like Sasnain Fire Temple, remain of Achaemenian and Sasanin city of Jey with its' Sasanian bridge called Sharestan, Safavaid Ali - Qapoo, Chelel-Sotoon, Hast-Behest palaces, Safavid bridges of Siosehpol (33 arches) Khajoo, and Safavid Menar Jonban (shaking minaret), Isfahan and Kashan Bazaars, Safavid polo ground of Naghsh-e-Jahan square, Buyyid and Saljuq's Friday Mosque and tens of other historical and architectural valuable sites scattered all around the province each of them are unique and eye-catching as far as art and beauty are concerned.
