301 Relics Identified in Southern Khorasan Province

TEHRAN -- The director of the Cultural Heritage Office in the southern part of Khorasan Province, Abolfazl Mokarrami, said that some 301 relics have been so far identified by the cultural heritage experts in the provincial cities of Qaen, B Speaking to IRNA yesterday, Mokarrami noted that the relics identified in those cities included ancient hills, dams, cemeteries, castles, caves and ancient buildings.

Those relics date back to the period from the early phase of the Stone Age up to Qajarid era, he said, adding that 176 relics are located in Birjand and the rest are in Qaen and Nehbandan. According to Mokarrami, some 31 relics have been so far registered as national monuments.
