TEHRAN -- Head of the provincial office of Cultural Heritage Organization in
Qazvin said that some 55 historical buildings have been registered as national
monuments in that province.
Mohammad
Nader Mohammadzadeh, in an interview with IRNA, said that Sa'd-ul-Saltaneh
caravanserai and Naqoos Tower were registered as national monuments this year
and that they are now under the protection of Cultural Heritage
Organization.
Referring
to the importance of cultural heritage, Mohammadzadeh noted that people from all
walks of life should try to preserve the valuable cultural and historical
relics.
He underlined that the preservation of cultural heritage is vital for
development of tourism sector in the country. Mohammadzadeh further expressed
dissatisfaction with lack of enough budget for preservation and renovation of
Qazvin Province's cultural and historical monuments. He said that the budget
earmarked for Qazvin Province's cultural heritage does not meet the
organization's needs in the fields of research, study, repair and preservation
of historical monuments.
Mohammadzadeh went on to say that the province needs some 300 million rials per
year to repair and preserve its cultural and historical monuments. He called for
financial support from all executive organs in the province, saying that,
unfortunately, no provincial credit has thus far been allocated to cultural
heritage office in Qazvin. In conclusion, he called on Qazvin's governor general
and head of the provincial planning and budget office to extend financial
support to the cultural heritage office.
