Monday,
21 June 1999
TEHRAN
-- A leading Iranian archaeologist Yahya Zoka said in Tabriz yesterday that the
discovery of a graveyard dating back to nearly 3000 years ago is a proof of the
old civilization in this part of the world. Zoka said that the graveyard was
discovered on the grounds of the Kabud Mosque in Tabriz. The discovery shows
that Tabriz has a history which dates back to more than 3000 years ago, he
added.
Since the start of excavations near the Kabud Mosque some 30 graveyards
belonging to the same era have been discovered.
