Antiques
Unearthed in Jazmourian Region

TEHRAN Following the archaeological excavation operations in Jazmourian region
some antiques have recently been unearthed. The antiques include iron swords,
goods made of admiralty metal, necklaces of agate and shell and ceramics which
are unique in the world's art history. Jazmourian region, was in ancient times,
a center for dialogue among cultures the ancient time. As a result of the recent
excavations, conducted under the supervision of Ms. Hamideh Choubak, 50 graves
and 30 graveyards have been identified.
A graveyard has also been unearthed near Kahnouj which dates back to the third
millennium BC. The ancient civilization in this region is estimated to be 5000
years old. The design and form of the unearthed ceramics indicate a region
located between the three provinces of Kerman, Sistan-Baluchestan and Hormuzgan
and have the symbol of Indian and Greek cultures.
