TEHRAN The archaeological excavation of
historic Zivieh Hill, dating back to one
millennium B.C., began in Kordestan Province,
the Public Relations Office of the Cultural
Heritage Organization reported yesterday.
Located in the southeastern part of Saqez
town, the splendid historic hill has probably
been used as the primary model for the
construction of historic buildings of
Persepolis in Shiraz, the report added.
Archaeologists have thus far discovered parts
of a magnificent ancient castle on Zivieh
Hill.
