TEHRAN
-- The First International Seminar on Norouz
(marking the beginning of new Iranian year) is to
open in Arg-e Bam, Kerman, on March 12 with
participation of member countries of the Economic
Cooperation Organization (ECO), it was announced
here yesterday.
Mohammad
Mirshokraie, the secretary of the seminar, told
reporters that Norouz is one of the greatest
Iranian traditions and feasts. The seminar which
will be held on the occasion of the Year of
Dialogue Among Civilizations, will include several
speeches, panel discussions and cultural and art
exhibitions, he added. Setting up of an exhibition
on Norouz-related documents and pictures, Norouz
tables, film screening and performance of
traditional music are among other programs of the
seminar, the secretary of the seminar said.
The
seminar will be sponsored by Iran's Cultural
Heritage Organization and with ECO, UNESCO
National Commission, the International Center for
Dialogue Among Civilizations, Iran's Tourism
Organization and Bam Economic Zone being
represented in the gathering. Pakistan,
Uzbekistan, Turkey, Azerbaijan (Arran), Armenia,
Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Georgia
will attend the three-day seminar.
