TEHRAN, May 7--The second phase of archaeological excavations
in Siyabum region of Arisman vilages, in Badroud,
Isfahan province, began last week, Iran's Cultural
Heritage Organization (ICHO) announced on Sunday.
The first phase of the operation was carried out by the joint
Irano-German team in 2000. "Arisman is an
industrial city located on Iran's central plateau,
which dates back to the 5th millennium BCE,"
ICHO said. "During archaeological excavations,
some relics were unearthed in Arisman that
provided evidence that the place belongs to the
prehistoric era." The excavations were
carried out in cooperation with Bochum Museum and
Freiburg University of Germany.
