16 May 2002

TEHRAN- The experts of the Cultural Heritage Organization (CHO) have discovered remains of Karim Khan-e Zand's corpse, the founder of Zand dynasty.

According to the director of the Fars Province Cultural Heritage Organization, while Karim Khan-e Zand's tomb was being excavated for repair, parts of a corpse were discovered and later on the experts of the CHO established that they were part of Karim Khan's corpse.

The director of the Fars Province Cultural Heritage Organization believes that the corpse of Karim Khan was transferred to the Golestan Palace by order of Agha Mohammad Khan of the Qajar dynasty.

During the time of Reza Shah, the founder of Pahlavi dynasty, his remains were taken to Koushk Nazar Garden and buried there.

Finally, he declared that in the near future a wordy  tomb would be made for Karim Khan in Nazar Garden.
