Experts restoring an old house in the
Anjareh village in the northwestern Iranian province of
East Azarbaijan recently came up with a surprising find
which is believed to be remains of the bones of a
mammoth.
The bones, estimated to be some five million years ago,
are now kept in the yard of another local house, pending
investigation by the environment organization. Head of
the local cultural heritage department Akbar Taqizadeh
said they have asked the organization to dispatch
experts to conduct studies on the bones.
"The discovery of the bones of the giant animal,
unprecedented in the province, is very significant in
that it can tell interesting points about the life
million of years ago," he remarked.
