Dozens of coins from the Qajar era and
some jewellery belonging to the Pahlavi dynasty were
discovered and confiscated from smugglers, and handed to
the Cultural Heritage Department of the southern
province of Fars.
The collection, aimed specially for the neighbouring
countries of the Persian Gulf, included 133 Qajar coins
from the time of Fath'ali Shah, Naser ed-Din Shah and
Ahmad Shah as well as some valuable silver plaques, necklaces,
and earrings.
According to head of the Cultural Heritage Guards of
Fars province, the coins have been handed over to Pars
museum, and the jewellery to the anthropology section of
the Cultural Heritage Department for further studies.
