Fortification and removal of dirt from
the inscriptions and relief of Darius the Greats' Tomb,
the Achaemenid Emperor, located in Naqsh-e Rostam near
Shiraz, in Southern province of Fars, reached
completion.
According to an official of the Parseh-Pasargade
research organization in charge of restoration works
Hassan Rahsaz, the activities started in 2002 and
included reattaching of the shards, fortifying different
parts of the reliefs, repairing them and also removing
the dirt of the cuneiform reliefs.
The reliefs of Orang Baran and some Achaemenid cuneiform
inscriptions are seen on the monument’s entrance. The
inscriptions consist of prayers to Ahura Mazda, some
spiritual texts and advice, names of the countries and
regions under the reign of Darius the Great.
