Archaeological
and geological studies
carried out west of Esfahan have led to the discovery of
the first Palaeolithic cave in the area.
An official with the local cultural heritage department
said studies which focused on an area 30 km west of Esfahan
near Zayandehrud river rendered a cave dating
back to the Palaeolithic era as well as some stone tools
and bone remains.
Mohsen Javari noted this was the first discovered Palaeolithic cave in the area which could provide answer
to many lingering questions.
The experts are busy examining the stone tools found in
the cave. Meanwhile, preliminary studies on the bones
suggest they belonged to animals such as turtles, horses
and goat.
Further extensive studies are expected to be carried out
in the cave soon. |
