Woman’s Skull Found In Ilkhanid Garbage Area

A woman’s skull has been found in an Ilkhanid garbage area in Takht-e-Suleiman in Western Azerbaijan province, in northwest of Iran.

“The skull belonging to a woman was found in a garbage area near an Ilkhanid graveyard and settlement. We have not yet found the woman’s body”, Yousef Moradi, head of the archeology team in Takht-e-Suleiman, told CHN.

According to Moradi, the woman’s death has been due to a blow to her head that has left her skull with a fracture. The woman has been beheaded after her death.

The archaeologists are now working on the skull in the Takht-e-Suleiman laboratory.

Takht-e-Suleiman consists of one of the most glorious fire temples that dates back to the ancient Iran and was at its apogee in the Sassanid era. This archaeological site undergoes annual preservation under Ibrahim Heidari.

Takht-e-Suleiman has been on UNESCO’s World Heritage List since 2003.
