The
project of collecting and providing geographical data on the
3,000-year-old Chogha Zanbil Ziggurat, southwest of Iran, is
launched.
Featuring a state-of-the-art computer software, the data bank
would be accessible for any information on all historical
sites in the southern province of Khuzestan. It would arguably
meet any need of domestic and foreign archeologists and other
experts who wish to have perfect data for managing a
historical site.
“The project is the latest measure taken to appropriately
protect this world heritage and it bears UNESCO’s seal of
approval,” said Hamid Fadaei, head of the research base in
Chogha Zanbil.
The data bank would include such information as road networks,
irrigation canals, residential areas and the height of
mountains in the province, the expert added.
