The
Institute for Egyptology and Ancient Orient
Studies at Germany's Mainz University and the
Iranian Center for Archaeological Research have
begun joint archaeological tests in Iran's Haft
Tappeh region.
The southwest German university is the first
German university since 1979 to cooperate with the
Iranian side on archaeological projects, according
to university professor Dr Eva Braun from the
Institute for Egyptology and Ancient Orient
Studies.
The project is partially financed by the German
Research Foundation (DFG) which is a central,
self-governing research organization.
