The British Museum's Forgotten Empire Exhibition Receives Ozymandias Award

News Category: Cultural

19 December 2005

The exhibition “Forgotten Empire: The World of Ancient Persia”, currently underway in British museum until 8th January 2005, received the Ozymandias award for best lost civilisation, from Charles Saatchi, the Observer reported on Sunday December 18, 2005.

Charles Saatchi was born in Iraq in 1943. Four years later, he and his brother Maurice were brought to Britain as their wealthy Jewish parents fled persecution.

It was a 1978 poster, "Labour Isn't Working", which made Saatchi and Saatchi a household name, even though it was a fake.
