The
800 years old tower of Alladoleh is on the verge
of destruction due to negligence of officials at
Varamin Municipality and Cultural Heritage and
Tourism Department.
Alladoleh Tower belongs to the Ilkhanid dynasty
(1256-1380 AD) and has a unique architecture which
is distinctive to Iran’s Islamic style.
Although the tower has attracted many domestic and
foreign tourists, nothing has been done to protect
it from the damages inflicted by vendors and other
people.
Varamin Municipality began renovating the tower
several weeks ago but the city’s Cultural
Heritage and Tourism Department prevented moves to
conduct repairs.
A member of Varamin Artists Society, Manouchehr
Souri, told IRNA that Alladoleh Tower had turned
into a garbage dumping grounds for vendors, but
Varamin Municipality helped to protect the tower
from further damage.
“Lack of restoration of the tower has resulted
in the destruction of many inscriptions in the
structure,“ Souri added.
