The
general outlook about archaeology should undergo a drastic
change to incorporate modern know-how into the field and
bring it out of the current isolation in Iran, observed
the head of Iran’s Cultural Heritage and Tourism
Organization (ICHTO) Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei.
He
said in his statement to the International Conference on Archaeology
that modern technology should be applied to upgrade the
sector, reported CHN.
Mashaei said that though the cultural heritage and tourism
sector should employ domestic experts and researchers,
modern technology applied in archaeology demands
international interaction and cooperation.
“Archeological findings not just belongs to a single
nation but to the entire world. The cultural and
historical significance of historical monuments is also
important for the international community,“ the official
pointed out.
He said that life of human beings is a common reality and archaeology
indicates the process of social evolution and the ups and
downs of human life.
“Archeology helps us form judgments about life in the
past and correct our mistakes taking lessons from the
past.“
He said that archaeological studies are essential for
every nation, particularly for Iran which has massive amount
of cultural sites.
He called for making use of the experience of other
nations in conducting archaeological excavations in Iran.
