The
first databank of historical and archeological documents
in possession of the Foreign Ministry, National Library,
Presidential Office and Documents and National Library
Organization will soon be set up, CHN reported.
Researchers and those interested can also have access to the
comprehensive bank on the Internet.
Documents Center of Iran’s Cultural Heritage and Tourism
Organization (ICHTO) had earlier compiled archeological documents
and once the center becomes operational, a comprehensive databank
featuring archeological documents will be available to the three
important state institutions.
The documents contain interesting archeological information and
cover a wide range of subjects including the excavations conducted
on the order of Nasereddin Shah of Qajar, Customs House’s clashes
with smugglers of antiques and dealing with illegal excavations.
Head of Documents and National Library’s Deeds Center Ziba Farzam
said that Foreign Ministry, Presidential Office and Documents and
National Library Organization had earlier published the
archeological deeds in their possession but the center has prepared
a databank by compiling comprehensive and more general information
which can be accessed on ICHTO website.
Farzam further said that images of documents, some of which date
back to a century ago, will go online in cooperation with Foreign
Ministry, Documents and National Library Organization as well as the
Presidential Office.
“The responsibility of commissioning the databank lies with the
ICHTO which is in charge of the sector,“ she concluded.
