Civil
Projects Need ICHTO Approval
|
26
September 2005
From
now on, agreements for big projects between the
Management and Planning Organization and related
bodies should get the approval of the Cultural
Heritage and Tourism Organization of Iran to
become finalized.
In an executive statute approved by the previous
government, in order to prevent any harm to
historical sites during giant projects, the
Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization of Iran
should be present all throughout the project and
supervise the activities.
Now, according to the 6th article of this statute,
the memorandum of understandings of civil projects
should be finalized by approval of the Cultural
Heritage and Tourism Organization.
In this article, it has been mentioned that,
“The MoU between the Management and Planning
Organization, and the executive body is dependant
on the approval of studies and activities by
Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization of
Iran.”
It seems that the enactment of this statute will
prevent damages to and help preserve the cultural
heritage of Iran while carrying out development
projects such as dams and road constructions.
In this statute, historical and cultural studies
have received special focus and the executive body
should devote a budget in this respect at the time
of proposing a project to the Management and
Planning Organization.
Based on the 5th article of this statute, the body
should hand a copy of the cultural- historical
studies related to the documentation of the
cultural- historical remains in the area to
undergo the project to the Cultural Heritage and
Tourism Organization of Iran.
