Four Hundred Ancient Rock Arts Found North of Jiroft

More than 400 rock arts, picturing humans and animals, dating to the Achaemenid and Parthian era (2500 years to 2138 years ago) has been discovered in Sardouyeh, north of Jiroft, in Kerman province.

Lots of historical objects and remains have so far been discovered in Sardouyeh area, making it an important archaeology site.

The rock arts show different scenes and creatures, including humans hunting animals with bows, ibexes, felines (including cats, lions, etc), humans fighting, and animals hunting each other.

According  to Nader Alidad Soleymani, the head of the excavation team of Sardouyeh, the study of the rock arts, most of which date to the Parthian time, is of great importance, because they can provide valuable information about the popular beliefs of the people and the economic, social, and cultural conditions of the time.
