Iranian
and British archeologists found a town dating back
to Parthian dynasty while working on an
archaeological site in Minab plain.
“The group was trying to revise the excavations
in Minab plain when they found a Parthian city by
accident. The findings of the recently found town
will be rendered to Iran Archaeological Research
Center after its limits are defined and marked”,
head of the Iranian-British archaeological group,
Alireza Khosro-zadeh, told CHN.
In the new round of their discoveries in Minab
plain, two British archeologists from Durham
University tried to study the information given by
A. Williamson, a British archaeologist who wrote
several books about his excavations in historical
regions of Minab plain.
According to Iranian archaeologists working in the
site during last year’s excavations, the age of
Minab plain can be traced back to a hundred
thousand year and it includes artifacts and
monuments dating back to Islamic and pre-Islamic
eras.
The last excavation session in the area was
concluded in the second half of March and will be
continued in the next year.
