The
international seminar for introduction of Jiroft
civilization was inaugurated today, with head of
the Iranian Cultural Heritage and Tourism
Organization (ICHTO), Governor of Kerman, Iranian
and foreign archeologists, and some 2000 people of
the area of Jiroft attending.
Jiroft civilization lived alongside the Halilrood
river in the central province of Kerman some 5000
years ago and as head of ICHTO, Hussein Marashi
said in the inauguration ceremony, it is
considered one of the oldest in the world whose
discovery adds to the Iran’s glories.
Referring to the lootings committed in the area,
Marashi talked to people of the necessity to
preserve and guard their heritage, which would
provide them with an eternal infinite wealth.
Governor of Kerman, Mohammad Ali Karimi, explained
that the importance of the area became known in
2001, just to be talked of today in an
international level. He added that the area has
now passed the hard times caused by looting and
illegal excavation and entered a new era.
The international seminar of Halilrood
civilization, which started its work today, aims
at a better understanding and introduction of the
discovered civilization of Jiroft and its ancient
invaluable remains.
