Median Structures Found in Moosh Tappe

Median dynasty architectural remains were found in Moosh Tappeh, near Hamedan, west of Iran, during the fourth excavation season.

The found monument is similar to brick structure of Noushi Jan in Malayer. Archeologists believe the two structures, which are filled with sricks using the same technique, belong to a same era.

The Noiushi Jan, a Median temple, was found in the 60’s by a British archeological team under the directorship of Girshman. Later on, in Uzbaki hill near Tehran, a mortuary was found that was similarly filled like the Noushi Jan structure.

“During the excavation, two chambers were emptied of bricks for continuing the studies” asserted Yaqub Mohammadifar, a member of excavation team and the dean of architecture faculty at Bu’Ali University in Hamedan.

Having finished the studies, the archaeological team has filled out the chambers again and covered the top for protection. In the Northwest of the monuments, a wall was found that belongs to Iron Age and is not contemporary to the found monument.

Mohammadifar indicated that in the excavation, a method based on analogy was used and regarding the collapse of a part of the site 15 years ago, the site can not be fully identified.
