Renowned
Iranian writer and historian Abolfazl son of
Hossein Beihaqi who lived during the reign of
Sultan Masoud Ghaznavi (11th century AD), compiled
a 30-volume chronology of events known as
’Beihaqi History’ of which only five volumes
can be accounted for.
According to CHN, Sirous Mahdavi, a researcher,
writer and director of the periodical
’Abakhtar’ is currently compiling a
three-volume ’Dictionary of Beihaqi History’s
Dignitaries’ featuring the distinguished figures
referred to in the masterpiece.
Mahdavi has completed two volumes of the book,
which will be published by Mashhad’s Ferdowsi
University’s Publishing House, and is working on
the third volume.
To restore the information presumably contained in
the missing volumes of ’Beihaqi History’, the
researcher conducted extensive studies of history
books which were compiled during the same era as
the masterpiece.
According to Mahdavi, ’Fereshteh History’,
’Mohammad Qasem Hendoushah’, ’Montakhab
ol-Tavarikh’ and ’Zein ol-Akhbar’ are among
the books which have quoted materials from
’Beihaqi History’.
Mahdavi further ventured to gain access to
information about dignitaries by referring to
history books written by foreign and domestic
authors including those by Ali Akbar Fayyaz, Saeed
Nafisi, Khalil Khatib-Rahbar, Manouchehr
Daneshpajouh, Mohammad Jafar Yahaqqi and Ali Akbar
Dehkhoda.
