LONDON,
(CAIS) -- The first conference on Tang-e Bolaghi, a
historical site in Fars province, attended by archaeologists
from around the world is currently being held in Shiraz,
reported the Persian daily Jaam-e Jam. Announcing this, head of Iran’s Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization’s (ICHTO) Research Center, Dr Masoud Azarnoush said that Iranian and foreign archaeologists will present the findings of their two-year research studies about Pasargad and Bolaghi Gorge at the event.
“Fortunately, the problems created by Sivand Dam led to archaeological studies about safeguarding the cultural heritage of the region.
“Some reports say that Sivand Dam threatened the tomb of the Achaemenid King of Kings, Cyrus the Great in Pasargad as well as the ancient city of Persepolis, which is 50 kilometers away from the dam. The historical complex is 150 meters lower than the dam,“ said Azarnoush.
