LONDON,
(CAIS) -- Seven archaeological teams are registering
and documenting immovable cultural and historical monuments of Lorestan
province.
Azam Ganji , the head of the provincial Cultural Heritage and Tourism Department
expanded this is the first time such a scheme is being implemented across the
province, ISNA reported.
She noted that the archaeological teams had started their activities in early
fall under the supervision of the Monuments Registration Council.
Ganji said the main goal was to register 300 monuments, adding the teams were
active in different parts of the province including Doroud, Azna, Kouhdasht as
well as Khorramabad's Papi, Chegni and Chaghlavandi districts.
Stating that each team is provided with 30 million rials for documentation and
registration of the edifices, she said once the project is over the number of
registered historical and cultural sites in the province would reach 700 from
417 at present.
She expressed hope that the figure would increase to 1,000 next year.
