Year-Old Kilns Found in Bolaghi Valley

LONDON,
(CAIS) -- Several pottery Kilns dating back to
5,000 BCE were discovered during excavations at Bolaghi Valley in the southern
province of Fars.
Announcing this, co-chairman of Irano-German Excavation team Mojgan Seyyedin
said that the structures included more than five Kilns the oldest of which is
from the Bakun Period (5000-4000 BCE).
She said that the number of Kilns indicated that there were industrial
workshops at Bolaghi Valley which is threatened by the construction of Sivand
Dam.
Seyyedin said that since three of the Kilns were unearthed in tact, a
decision has been made to put them on public display.
“We have decided to reinforce the structures at Bolaghi Valley and then
transfer them to Pasargad Museum later on,“ she added.
Three Iranian, German and French archaeological teams are currently involved in
excavation operations at Bolaghi Valley.
