LONDON,
(CAIS) -- Shush Justice Department plans to dispatch
experts to determine the cost of relocating passenger terminal from the
7,000-year-old city Acropol in Shush (ancient Susa).
According to Persian service of CHN, the construction of Shush Terminal in Acropol, which is among
the ten largest international archeological sites, has put the the historical
city at risk.
Construction of terminal in the ancient city began several years ago without
obtaining permission from ICHTO (Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and
Tourism Organization) and following protests and a complaint by the
organization, the project has been left incomplete.
Commenting on the matter, director of Shush ICHTO, Reza Chenani said that after
the construction operations in the ancient site were suspended, the local
municipality filed a complaint against the organization.
The latest court hearing on the case was held in July and it was agreed that
experts from Justice Department determine the amount spent on the project and
the organization can stop the project after this sum has been paid as
compensation, he said.
Shush is considered as one of the world’s top 10 major archeological sites.
Excavations in the city in the past 100 years have led to the discovery of
traces of settlements dating back to 5,000 BCE.
