LONDON, (CAIS) -- Four historical relics, including three human figurines and the statuette of a winged horse, were confiscated from an antique smuggler in the city of Darab, Fars province, by the Anti-Drug Task Force officers of the province’s police department, according to CHN.
“Experts of the provincial department of ICHTO (Iran Cultural Heritage and Tourism Department of Fars) have not yet determined the exact age of these relics; however, they are most likely dated to the Achaemenid dynastic era (550-330 BCE),” said Shahnaz Parvizi, director of the Darab CHTO. She also said that the experts are determined to study the statues in detail.
These relics have been discovered in the residential house of a smuggler in the city of Darab and are currently being kept at the Cultural Heritage and Tourism Department the city.
According
to her, the case was reported to the FCHTO immediately and a team of experts
were dispatched to the area where these ancient pieces were discovered.
