LONDON, (CAIS) -- Iranian archaeologists are scheduled to start the second phase of Khosrow Palace excavations in the country's Kermanshah Province.

The team will begin archaeological studies on the palace situated in the city of Qasr-e Shirin in the western province.

“In the first phase of the project archaeologists unearthed the palace's amphitheatre,” said Dariush Farmani, head of the provincial Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Department.

Khosrow II, Parviz reigned from 590-628 CE, is considered to be the last of Sasanian dynasty’s powerful king of kings, prior to devastating invasion of Iran by Moslem-Arab forces in the middle of seventh century CE.
