CALL FOR PAPERS: The Anniversary of the Battle of Qadisiyyah
LONDON, (CAIS) -- We wish to invite articles for submission to commemorate the anniversary of the Battle of Qadisiyyah (16-19 November 636 CE), fall of Ctesiphon (12 March, 637 CE) and subsequent Islamisation of Iran.
The Battle of Qadisiyyah (in Middle-Persian 'Gad-Siyā', meaning 'black-mace') is perhaps one of the most important events in the history of the Middle-East, if not in the world that has shaped and changed history. The effects and subsequences of that battle which took place nearly 1400 years ago can still be witnessed, including the existence of the Islamic Republic in Tehran. Certainly the Middle-East and to a certain extent the whole world may have been far different as we know it today if it were not for the battle of Qadisiyyah.
We welcome articles in both English and Persian languages.
The Deadline for submissions are: 15th November 2010 for the annivesary of Battle of Qadisiyyah and 10th March 2010 for the fall of Ctesiphon.
